The role of the Abkhazian Repatriation Committee of the Republic of Abkhazia is helping to restore the historical surname and preparing the required documents to apply for the Abkhazian passport and citizenship, for the indigenous ethnic Abkhaz (Abaza) who live in Syria, the descendants of Abkhaz who were forcibly expelled from their homeland due to the tragic historical event of the 19th century.

For that, the applier should show up personally in the Abkhazian repatriation committee with his Syrian passport and birth certificate. And there, it’s important to fill out an information sheet, which will be sent to the Abkhazian embassy in Syria to confirm the historical surname and the Abkhaz ethnicity of the person. After receiving the response from the Abkhazian embassy in Syria, it’s necessary to fill out another form at the registration department of compatriots.

The required documents:
1. the Syrian Passport
2. Birth certificate
3. 8 passport photos
4. the official submitted form from the Abkhazian embassy in Syria.
